Introduction to the Manufacturing Line for Touch Panels for Smartphones (Excluding Wet Processes)
The manufacturing of touch panels for smartphones involves highly advanced and precise processes.
■ Preparation of the Substrate
The glass substrate (typically strengthened glass or chemically strengthened glass) is cleaned to remove surface dirt and oils.
■ Formation of the Conductive Layer
A conductive thin film, such as ITO (indium tin oxide), is coated onto the glass substrate using sputtering or vapor deposition methods. This creates a layer capable of sending and receiving electrical signals to detect touch operations.
■ Pattern Formation
Using photolithography and etching processes, the necessary patterns are formed on the conductive layer. This arranges the electrodes of the touch sensor.
■ Protective Layer and Coating
To enhance durability and sensitivity, a protective film or coating layer is added. This includes anti-reflective coatings and scratch-resistant coatings.
■ Lamination and Assembly
The various layers of the touch panel (glass substrate, conductive layer, protective layer, etc.) are laminated together to achieve the final shape.
■ Inspection and Quality Control
Electrical sensitivity, response speed, durability, and other factors are rigorously inspected, and defective products are removed.
